Pocket PC Phone dialer skins
http://www.pocketpcmagic.com/dialers/
pt is at it again. How about being able to skin your Pocket PC Phone dialer? At least in Sweden, mobile phone "skins" (clip-on) is a big market. With the Pocket PC Phone it's all software! Check out the other skins that pt has put on display!
"So here it is, folks- you saw it here first. We think we're going to release some cool custom dialers for your Pocket PC Phone (again, we think, we're still not sure). We might just post them, we might write a how-to guide / eBook, we might sell them like companies sell "real" dialer faceplates like you see at the mall at those little mall stands, we're not sure, but we wanted to see what you thought. Below are a few examples of what's possible (for now)."
To get the screen shot below, I used an application I just recently discovered: Pocket Controller from Soft Object Technologies. Now, I can't live without it! I'll tell you more about it soon. Meanwhile, enjoy the cool Xbox dialer skin!

so far...
so far the vibe has been to release a "sdk" for folks who are really motivated to do this. the sdk would have instructions, graphics, templates and from fireworks.
post ideas / thoughts / suggestions and more.
cheers,
pt

Ugh @ selling skins. Plastic costs money, and large manufacturing plants. Image files don't.

well, some would say that paying a designer costs money. ring tones are sold, themes are sold for the pocket pc ( www.pocketthemes.com) software is sold and bought online. so who knows.
i don't know the answer, but i so far i'm leaning towards a "sdk" and others can learn how to make their own.
but no matter what, what types of skins would you like see. all ideas welcome.
cheers,
pt

Because the darker Today themes and skins tend to be difficult to see in sunlight, I'd love to see some dialer skins with a white background and black/darker buttons. Boring, huh?

In my mind the answer is crystal clear - if people find something valuable, they are willing to pay for it! I think that the idea is to offer some skins for free and put a price on extra cool skins. If the "SDK" would include a ready-made "skin builder" is what I suggest for creating my own skins.
We all have to keep trying to find money in what we do! The market will show us when we're right.
