New Zayo A600PPC
http://www.zayotech.com/
Racer-X sends in this link to a new Pocket PC 2002. It should be available by October 15 and you can pre-order it now from Mobile Planet. Here are the specs:
$550 - Order between 10/1/02 and 12/31/02 and get a $50 rebate though- available at ZayoTech's site through the Special Offer link. 400MHz X-Scale Pocket PC 2002 3.5 inch reflective 16 bit screen with "Exclusive architecture speeds graphics" SD/MMC slot, optional CF sleeve (See image in the comments) FastIR, SlowIR. (Now, the iPAQ has always had FIR in the hardware but it was never implemented. Not sure if that was a driver or PPC 2K2 issue) 4.9" L x 2.9"W x 0.5"D (By comparison, the Palm M515 is 4.5" x 3.1" x .5", so this is a bit longer, tad narrower) 4.9 oz. (Identical to the M515) Li-Ion battery

Very cool. While typing this note, I found out that Dale "I have every Pocket PC months before you even hear about it" Coffing is readying a review for it, which should be live on Thursday.<!>

Clarinet Systems actually makes a replacement FIR driver for the 36xx and 37xx series iPAQs. It works very well except you can't copy anything to the Storage Card through it. The driver appears to disable Storage card access across ActiveSync. Also at $20 it's a pretty limited market.

I think you have to understand that, for the time being, any PPC going for ultraslim is going to have to omit built in CF support simply because the size of a slot that could take the card would add to much bulk.
I think it's healthy as long as both the dual slot high end market AND the lower end slimmer market develop.

I've been playing with the Zayo Pocket PC for a while, now. I didn't think it was possible, but this tiny PPC has completely replaced my Toshiba! For those of you that would like to know more about this new PDA, Julie and I should have a joint review up sometime next week.

I'll see how it performs... I'm supposed to get the original ASUS MyPal A 600 version and the throttling looks promising... 100MHz to 400MHz with a draw of .8V to 1.8V on the CPU.
