This is a brilliant program that could be an indespensible tools for writers. Some of the other dictionaries have more words or etymologies, etc., but this program is unique in the way it functions. While any of the dictionaries let you look up the spelling of a word you already know, this one is a great tool for anyone searching for a word to express an idea. Of course, it does give you a word's spelling and definition, but it also provides an easy way to move around between your original word and other related words. You can find synonyms and antonyms, see more specific words that are special cases of your word, see a more general word of which your word is a special case and more. One thing I found particularly useful was to start with the word I could think of (but wasn't quite right), then tap the up arrow to go to the more general word of which my word is one type, then tap the down arrow to get more specific. If doesn't take you back just to your word, but it takes you to a whole list of words that are also special cases of the more general word. It's like a free-association dictionary-thesaurus. If you work with words, you want this.

I bought this program several months ago. I use it often, and the number of words in its database is impressive (much better than Encarta). It is also fast.

I find the programs few interface buttons to be non-intuitive, and their web page is not helpful. These caveats considered, I still highly recommend this program. I have tried a few other pocket dictionaries, and this one is the standout of the group.

Default Thanks to PPT and Revolution...

...I'm now a proud owner of Lextionary.

I'd like to add a special mention to Revolution for being kind enough to match the international price for those of us who aren't able to use PayPal.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments!

The website is being redesigned (aren't they all?) with a focus on better content such as more pre-sales info and better support pages. Also the Windows version of Lextionary is nearing completion and will likely be free to all current Lextionary Pocket PC users. Work continues on integrating more datasets into the database and on the next Lex PPC version.

Only a few hours left in the Pocket PC Thoughts price promotion.

Thanks

Hayes
