Video Conference On Your Pocket PC
http://www.3g.co.uk/PR/August2002/3961.htm
The telecommunications news site 3G reports that France Telecom researchers have developed some software that lets you use your plain old CF still camera as a video conference device.
"This means users can set up a wireless video contact between two pocket PCs, such as a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant). This world premier makes it possible for the first time to easily establish direct connections between two people at remote locations without any wiring. Sound is now enhanced with video: the speaker is displayed on the screen and converses with the same audio quality as a conventional phone call."
This could be pretty cool. I know that some people have been disappointed with the picture quality of some of the CF cameras out there, so this could make them even more useful. We can't get *too* excited, though, because laboratory trials will just be starting in October, with full-scale testing in 2003.

what sort of sleeve is that on the ipaq? in the only dual cf sleeve i have seen that had that sort of configuration, the side port was non-io capable.
apart from that, cool idea but it needs to be compatible with other video conferencing set-ups (netmeeting) to be of use to most people.[/url]

That was part of a direct quote from the 3G Web site.
