WiFi problem identified...
... I believe. Yesterday, I borrowed an iPAQ Pocket PC, a PC Card sleeve and a Compaq WL100 card. The actual units are known to work in a WiFi configuration. The AP is not detected by the iPAQ kit nor by my laptop with the WL100 card. My conclusion is that the Symbol AP is broken. I will verify by trying to obtain a replacement. I'll keep you updated!

By the way, did you try a firmware update on the AP?
