Default SocketCom needs encouragement on their Bluetooth card

http://www.socketcom.com/product/bluetooth.htm

SocketCom has a Bluetooth CF card for Pocket PCs enabling them to communicate with Bluetooth devices, such as cell phones. However, there is one feature it cannot do. If you want to dial a number from Contacts in your PPC, then have the BT card hand off the BT connection to your BT headset, essentially dialing and using your phone without ever touching the phone itself, you can't.

SocketCom has indicated that they would be willing to add this enhancement of there was enough demand, so if you have one of these cards and you use it with your Bluetooth cell phone, click here to fire off an email requesting the feature.

Default If you buy it ... they will build.

This is a truly rediculous assertion. They don't build in quality and robustness.

However, if you buy enough of their underpowered crap, they will consider making a better version.

With an attitude like that, I don't expect that Socket will expand their market share any time soon.

I have read that mPhone Pro software for the PPC is able to do the call and hand-off process through some special tricks in the software.

What I would like to see is more HW providers supporting the Headset profile on their Bluetooth devices. Is it only me that wants to leave my cell phone in my pocket or briefcase and just use my iPAQ, similar to the GSM/GPRS sleeve.

Just a thought...

Such anger in you young Will! :-) It's not unusual to have companies gauge feature development based on direct customer feedback, is it? I happen to think that Socket makes some of the best products on the market - I haven't had a single problem with any Socket product I've ever used.

Do you have any specific criticisms, or are you just in a bad mood?

I don't mind not having that feature in my Socket BT card, but it never hurts to have it, so I'll be e-mailing Socket to request that feature.

Yeah bug off Will !
8O They've been working very hard to get the new drivers out for the Casio devices. They offered a beta-program and instant feedback !
The problem lies in the current bluetooth-specification; it supports only one connection at a time.
Now Socket i willing to develop a way around that (releasing and passing on the connection in time), to get that headset work. I call that good service !
So get mailin' Will 8)
