Those crazy Asian products
http://www.handytrusters.com/info.html
I saw this on The Gadgeteer site, and thought it was pretty amusing (and interesting). Some of the most fascinating, and downright odd, products come out of Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and China. This one is no exception - it detects lies based on the vocal tone of the speaker. When you think about it, integrating this into a Pocket PC wouldn't be that hard...
"Handy Truster is a handheld, portable LIE DETECTOR. More accurately it is a voice stress analyzer. When people lie the blood pressure changes in their vocal cords. This change is not audible to us but the Handy Truster is designed to pick up on these subtleties. The Handy Truster is built upon Israeli chip technology and boasts an 84 percent accuracy rate."

for the kids
When I am interrogating my children, I could use one of these (if it works).... sometimes they can fool me so well I don't know 'who started the fight'
Maybe I can use it with my wife too when she comes back from the mall with a guilty look on her face.... nah, that face is a dead give away already :-)

Ok, when/where can we in North America buy one? Heck, I'll grab on off Ebay, provided it works with English.

Wes (of a site that shall remain nameless but it's initials are PDABuzz) could have really used this when he talked with that HHMG CEO! :?

I think you would drain the battery if you took it to a political meeting...

Handheld Lie Detector Ban
Doubtless these will be banned in DC as they would be going off constantly provided the battery can handle so much sensory input. 8O

For an interesting read related to this topic, take a look at James Halperin's "The Truth Machine".
