Default Welcome to all PDABuzz Refugees

http://forums.pdabuzz.net/showthread.php?s=&postid=266321

Someone pointed me to this thread, and I wanted to address this publicly. No site on the web right now can replace PDABuzz - it was a unique site stamped with the personality of its creator, Wes Salmon. I would humbly submit, however, that our little site here would make a good home for the Pocket PC users among the PDABuzz crew who no longer wish to stay at that site. I'd like to formally extend an invitation to all of those people in the PDABuzz community. Mixing two different communities is always a, shall we say, "challenging" prospect, but I'm sure our common bond of loving our Pocket PCs will keep us together. All the other non-Pocket PC users are welcome as well, but I'd like to stress that unlike PDABuzz, Pocket PC Thoughts makes no pretence at being a "PDA Neutral" site. We're pro-Pocket PC all the way, so I trust that none of you will be shocked by our "bias".

Our site can't duplicate what you had on PDABuzz, but perhaps something new can be forged that you'll enjoy just as much. It surprised me when I thought about it today, but our forums have only been around for five months. In that sense we're a "new" community, and we have a lot of growing to do. I'd be thrilled to have you along for the ride!

As a side note, I've extended an offer to Wes for him to become a guest columnist, giving him a platform to speak from when he feels like it. Due to something nice that happened to him recently, he may not be able to take me up on it, but I'll leave it to him to decide.

For all you new users, and perhaps a reminder for you "old" ones, please give our guidelines a read. I like to run a relaxed site, but there are certain guidelines I'd ask you to respect. Thank you!

Default Let me be the first...

...to say Thanks!

I am sure we will never know all of the details, but I simply cannot see any quality in Wes or in the way he ran PDABuzz that could lead to such a decision other than that HHMG didn't want the site his way anymore.

In that case, it can't get better, only worse.

Thanks for taking us in here, Jason!

Don't worry Foo Fighter is around here too, so you should be able to get your "PDA Community Celebrity Boxing" fix for some time to come

Tom

P.S. For me, it is good to be back (used to post a reasonable amount back in the flat mode "comments" days). I still hate the PocketPCthoughts board though (Come on Jason, everybody loves vBulletin  ). But I'll adjust...

..........when there is information apocalypse, there is always the last refuge place where any netizens would go to recreate civilizaiton from scratch.

THE Newsgroup.

Ah,..the uncentralized, unadultrated, free bits of information, where anything goes from slight morsel of government consipracy proof, free wheeling opinion, long lost computer language, arcane scientific breakthrough, or just for biggest flame fest possible.

How to turn your PDA to sattelite remote control anybody?

cheers....

Personally, I don't look at ppcthoughts as a community... This is a news site, I mean, how many people actually start threads here and how many respond? Lets leave that the Brighthand, and other COMMUNITY websites.

However, I think its great that you can comment on posts, I just think that we should leave this site to quality news and news discussion...

But, its not my site...

Community is what you make it. If you don't want to post or answer posts, that's fine, but since moving to a true discussion forum, this site is slowly evolving into a "real" community site. I'm convinced we can be a community site on the "back end" and still maintain the front-page news & views that people enjoy. Of course, in order to do that, I need your participation, which you're not apparently willing to give. I'm sure some will agree that there's a certain void in the Pocket PC community space at the moment, and I'd like to fill it.

Sorry you don't want to come along!

Well, count me in Jason. I was lurking a lot here anyway - good to be on board.

Where do I stow my straw and drinking bowl?
