Default Sendo Z100 pre-order

http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=SEN_Z100

Expansys, the kings of the pre-order world, are offering the tri-band Z100 Pocket PC SmartPhone for pre-order. Price? Unknown. Ship date? Unknown. Wow factor? Off the charts - this is a slick device, although never having seen the final shipping hardware, I'll reserve judgement on quality. Souce: Bart Pelgrims

well noticed, Jason: they have several products with status "Delivery: estimated 14 days" and what's more interesting: this very same status is staying on their site for SEVERAL WEEKS. In other words: they are cheaters !

As far as Sendo is concerned, if one is a developer you can buy it NOW for 750 US dollars by going to this link:

http://www.sendo.com/dev/index.asp

clicking on "continue" button (or rather arrow) and by following instructions.

(personally I find this price too high, not to mention built-in digital camera but for such a price I would expect at least a built-in bluetooth... this price is however "for developers only" so maybe later on it will be smaller)

I must say I like this device (Sendo Z100) because it passes main test that each (my) cell phone must pass: having built-in MP3 player and MMC/SD memory card!

I think the expandable memory is the biggest selling point since it offers little else that's unique;

"Like no other phone, it gives you the ability to communicate via voice and text and access information you need when you need it" -

Don't forget that this price is without VAT and without Shipping costs, and the purpose is only developing, nothing else...

They mentioned a $600-$650US MSRP at the Pocket PC Summit.

FYI: The phone sports a 120mhz StrongARM processor with 32MB of ROM, and an SDIO slot.

Pocket PC Magazine has a good article on the device in their most recent issue.

Default when when when

Are there any firm dates yet. I am not buying this 3rd quarter business. I would not care if I did not want one so bad.

How did the Treo get out so soon. I continually hear that the Sendo phone is in trials, how come the process has taken so long. It seems that we heard about the Treo and then it was out.

I really need to buy a cell phone, I am stuck in the dark ages and land locked. I really like the 9290, but have always been a MS junkie. Any real information surfacing yet? Anyone tried the 9290?

later

http://wirelessnewsfactor.com/perl/story/18039.html has a little look at the 9290. It really is a fantastic piece of technology, but you may find it a bit bulky, especially if you're not looking to be doing all the Word Processing and stuff that it excels at (don't get me wrong, I use the 9210 and love it, and the 9290 is better on so many levels - though I understand there's no HSCSD in the States ).

The software currently being developed by people such as EpocWare and Zenobyte for the Smartphone is already demonstrating the mass market potential of the SonyEricsson P800 and Nokia 7650 as devices for a positive experience, without mentioning the Magpie technology, and you may want to wait for them.

A bit bulky ? It's a damn brick!
It may be a nice piece of technology, but it's just too large to fit in my pocket.
