Graphing calculator software anyone?
http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1131&highlight=
I saw this posting in the forum and thought it was interesting enough for front-page news. The author is working on a complex calculator with extensive graphing functions - something to let the erstwhile math student leave his TI-89 at home (back in MY day, they were the TI-85!). Interested in beta testing or voting on a price range? Check it out.
"Hello.. I am working on an advanced mathematics suite for the Pocket PC. I am surprised that with the speed of Pocket PCs there hasn't been a large number of these. (It has advantages over the HP49G emulator, especially speed and graphing ability). It is on the level of a TI-86, with some features of the TI-89, and graphing capabilities that far surpass any graphing calculator. It will have, for example, 2d explicit/ polar/ implicit/ parametric, 3d explicit/parametric, fractal generating, etc. The 3d functions can be rotated by dragging the stylus around on the graph window, which is rather easy (and entertaining ). On the iPaq, the precalculating time for a typical high quality (albeit wireframe) 3d graph is well under one second and the graphs rotate extremely smoothly."

The iPaq is indeed a powerful software platform. If would be amazing... yet, I am still using my thrusty HP48 (mind you, NOT a 49) emulated within the iPaq. It is an amazing calculator, and although I know the iPaq's hardware can do a lot more, I see it difficult that an independent developer can give us the flexibility of the HP48, where you can program and calculate very fast.
If you do... I am a buyer for sure.
Thanks,
JMV
