Xircuit's Updated File Explorer

Xircuit has announced an update of their XPlore file manager/explorer application. Aimed at providing greater functionality and ease of use than the built-in Pocket PC File Explorer, XPlore v3.1 offers several key enhancements:
� View file properties
� Sort and filter listings
� Create shortcuts
� Use drag/drop to copy and move files or entire folders
� View file type icons
� Tap-and-hold context menu with all frequent file operations
� Dedicated "Open with..." dialog
I generally feel that the native File Explorer does all I need it to do, but not always in the most convenient or expedient manner. This little application goes a long way toward reducing the number of strokes it takes me to move files or perform other operations. Agree with griph
While I commend Xircuit for providing some nice and all very reasonably priced software, I agree that Resco's File Explorer is the greatest. :!:

If you want a File Explorer that is better than the native PPC OS one, but not quite as full featured as these others, I'd recommend the freeware Citadel Development Pocket Explorer. (www.citadeldevelopment.com)

Not to disparage Xircuit at all with this post, it looks like they've written a nice app...
But one of the REAL sore points for me with the PPC platform is that I have to shell out $10, $15 or more for functionality that
should be built into the OS
Grrr. :evil:

Like what? I find myself needing something more powerful than File Explorer perhaps once a month - which isn't very often at all. What "should" they have added? Your reason for killing the 3rd party market for File Explorers had better be compelling... :wink:

I have to agree with Coffeekid on this. When you have a 128MB SD and a 128mb CF and 64mB RAm :AND: 6MB Ipaq File Store you just gotta have a decent File Explorer and the one built in just ain't up to it. I have Resco's version in my Start Up and it is used constantly. Why should I HAVE to pay for what is built into PC Windows and not built into PPC. Please Microsoft license Resco for the next update.

I find nothing beats DEXplor - use of full screen and every function I could ever want a File Explorer to do.

I have to agree, DEXplor does everything that I need and more and is improving all the time. It does full featured exploring, task manager, and registry editor all in one. It replaced 3 of the programs I was using. :P
