Default More happy, chatty news from HP

http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/020417/law045_1.html

... from Fonix Speech Solutions, really! They have been selected by HP to integrate their speech recognition and text-to-speech software into the HP Jornada 928 WDA (Pocket PC Phone Edition).

"Fonix offers a voice-activated interface that enables users to use only their voices to access and call contacts with the mobile phone feature of their HP Jornada 928 WDA. With Fonix Speech Solutions, HP Jornada 928 WDA users in the U.K., and French- and German-speaking countries, will be able to quickly access contacts and safely place telephone calls by speaking the name or telephone number of the person they wish to call hands-free, without having to view the WDA display, creating a practical and easy way to make calls. ... The HP Jornada 928 WDA, with Fonix Speech Solutions, will be available to the European general public in retail outlets in the late second quarter of 2002." (Thanks to Marc Jaffe for the link!)
