Pharos has an adapter for the Jornada series that will allow you to plug the adapter into an ipaq charger and use that . I use it with a Y cable and can charge my ipaq and jornada on one charger.

all pins populated?
If all pins are populated, this might be a source for building custom cables... $10 is not that bad.
Additional thought... these connectors appear to be from the same source as the Canon Digital cameras... that info might also provide some source information.

Finally, the 3800 Charger Adapter thingy
If they hadn't removed the standard power socket and changed the sync connector, this wouldn't be necessary at all...

True, but I think the new design is much better. It just makes a painful transition, especially for 3600 users with extra chargers and cradles.

The reason they changed the adapter was to include power charging ability in the USB connector, right? (Please correct if wrong) So, I have to initially agree with Marc; why? Are there long term implications? It's not like if it's in the cradel, syncing via USB without the power cord, it powers at the same time...hmm...

I'm not sure what's better about the new design. I much preferred the old one because --
I could have the power cord plugged into an auto A/C adapter at the same time as a Supplynet phone cable.
There was no extra piece to lose.
I could read in bed with the power cord plugged in; when I try this with the new cable and adapter, the arrangement is bulky and awkward and fragile.

And foldable keyboards. And GPS receivers. And...
I don't think that this is a better design than the original connector. I've yet to read about a real technical reason with a major benefit for changing the connector.

No. The original connector allows charging as well. It's the cradle contact that charges the H3600/H3700 units in the cradle and you can also get third-party USB sync & charge cables.

Well then
OK, so it's not for power exactly. Can anyone provide a legitimate reason?
