Birthdays, Wishlists, and all that jazz...
Today happens to be my birthday, so I'm going to take the afternoon off, treat my car to a interior cleaning, eat some Tony Roma's ribs with my lovely wife, and try to relax. We've had a hectic and fiery few days here at Thoughts - who knew that dancing today screens and some cleaver swinging would generate such passionate debates? Sometimes I get myself worked up into a frenzy during these discussions, as do some of you, but after a day to cool off I look back on them and think "This is what the site is about. Agree or disagree, the debate is the reason this site exists." So regardless of whether or not you think we're all lunatics, I appreciate you coming to share your Thoughts with us.
And what makes lunatics happier than presents? Why nothing of course! :-) Being that today is my birthday, I figured this would give me a good excuse to let you know about the wishlist that each author has. In the weblog and free content world, wishlists are a fairly common thing: the people pouring hours of their lives into creating content for free have lists of things they'd like, and if visitors like their content, they have the ability to make a few of those wishes come true. Completely optional, guilt-trip free. There are no expectations.
Some of the guys didn't want to put up their wishlists because they don't spend as much time on the site as I do. Rubbish! Every member of the team works hard on the site, and I appreciate every one of them. Do you? If so, consider giving a gift to your favourite Thoughts contributor. In no particular order, here they are...
 Marlof's Wishlist Jason's Wishlist Brad's Wishlist Andy's Wishlist Ed's Wishlist
You can learn a lot about each one of us from looking at the wishlist. Some of the items are truly WISHES (like Sam's laptop!), and others are goofy things we would enjoy but probably would never buy for ourselves.

I noticed Shadow of the Hegemon on your list. Are you an Orson Scott Card fan too?!

Happy Birthday Jason!
I was just thinking, maybe you could create a flash enabled theme for your Jornada of a cake and blow out the candles on it
I sincerely hope that none of my comments have put you in a frenzy.
Once again, Happy Birhtday!
Dave

It happens to us all, but realising that debate wouldn't be debate if we all agreed on everything helps keep us free from bitterness and hate, and helps us see a bigger world.

A few days ago Jason asked us to make wishlists, and I hesitated for a while, but finaly decided Why not? Bloggers of all sorts have been making wishlists for a long time; in fact for a long time it was the only way to could *buy* greymatter. So I jumped on the opertunity, figuring that the worst things that could happen would be that I wouldn't get anything and someone would flame me for it. These were two things that were bound to happen any way (though no one has flamed me yet), so I had some fun with it. I put a wide viariaty of stuff, from the cameras, to the Powerbook, to the G4 tower with 17" LCD, to Anne Lamott books, to stuff about Byzantinum, books by Carl Sagan, and asorted other stuff that caught my eye.
Cheers,

You must hold the world record for the dance marathon by now don't you? For me your dancing M has to be the most easily recognized avatar on the web. Even if it isn't seen much lately. Hope things are going well?
