Default Pocket Atari Released

http://pocketatari.retrogames.com/

We've gotten word from Chris Coulter that Pocket Atari, an Atari800 emulator, has been released under a general GNU GPL. This program uses a port of an open source Atari8000 emulator to make it possible to use Atari programs on your Pocket PC whenever and wherever you want.

Like all emulators of this sort, it's likely that the program is a little on the buggy side, but hey, since it's open source you can fix the problems yourself. Right? Also it probably isn't the fastest program around, but then its the only program I know of that lets you play vintage Atari games on your Pocket PC. However, I suspect that the coolness factor alone will be sufficient to give this program some level of success.

Nice, I guess. Does anyone know what happened to that C64-Emulator that was announced like a hundred years ago? I'm not talking about that CB64-thing, as far as i know the programmer worked on other emulators before.

This is rather old news -- Pocket Atari has been around for a while. Vasyl started it first and then went on to create Pocket Sarien and Pockt SCUMM.

Anyhow, as for the C64 emulator, I haven't heard anything in a while. Stuart Russell (of Pocket VCS and Pocket Coleco fame) was working on porting the Frodo and VICE emulators for the Commodore 64, but he appears to have dropped off the face of the earth late last year. :?

A C64 emulator would be incredible on the Pocket PC! There is such a huge library of games out there, and you could even be somewhat productive with the GEOS utilities. (I wrote all my high school papers using Geowrite!) But the #1 reason to emulate the C64 is for Archon. When I can play Archon on my Pocket PC, my life will be complete.

WOW, I love Archon! It really owned! I would like to see Mail Order Monsters too. Eat that Pokmon hehehe.
I would rather use it to run Omega, that cool game where you had to write a routine for a battlebot.

Default Atari

Well, I reported on the big UPDATE. Had Pocket Atari for quite awhile, but some may not know of, all good. Wish to heck that an Atari ST 1040 with the latest TOS would be able to be EMU'ed on the Pocket PC. Wouldn't that be like KILLER?

I thought I was the only one that really wanted a CB64 emu!!!
Yes, seems that Stuart vanished from earth and it seems no one else seems to want to do this...a pity, I'd love to play MULE in my PPC...I keep dreaming of course...

Default Eh? There is a C64 emulator

http://www.cb64.com

Unfortunately, the site seems to be down right now. It's one of the pieces of software I forgot to put back on my iPaq after I upgraded to 2002, so thanks for reminding me!

I can't seem to find it anywhere else, but I'm pretty sure I have a copy on a backup CD somewhere. Email me if you're interested.

Default M*U*L*E and Archon

You can play both of these on PocketAtari as EA used to release most of there games on Atari's as well as on the C64. Another old cool game from the C64 days that was released on the Atari is Seven Cities of Gold (again from EA).

yes, I knew about cb64, but Domenico made it for E115 devices and it's a bit difficult to use (popping keyboard) in a EM500 or E125...ARM version for ipaq was more playable if I'm not wrong...
