MultiIE 2.0 Released
http://www.zipworld.com.au/~peterept/
I'm sure most of you have at least heard of MultiIE, a program that allows you to open more than one window in Pocket IE on your Pocket PC. Having had some limited experience with this program, I must say that it is everything a Pocket PC program should be: it takes the built in application and tweaks what is already there until it works right. If only there were people who could make a similar feature adjustment to other Pocket PC programs, life would be good. I don't necessarily think that multiple windows would be a good thing, but I do think that other nearly-seamless implementations of additional features would be VERY welcome.
"MultiIE 2.0 is completely re-written, re-designed and expandable application. This single version will work on both the original Pocket PC and new Pocket PC 2002 devices. All existing features from MultiIE have been improved, and many more new features are now available." Thanks to Mark Midgley, among others, for pointing this out to us!

I have eagerly awaited this new version. I had the previous version on my Jornada 548, where I had wireless Internet access. I considered MultiIE the most important add-on I owned. Because my wireless access was slow (OmniSky, 19.2 kbps maximum), I could read one site while one or two others were loading.

Same here with GPRS access. It's not a question of speed only but a question of convenience. I love MultiIE!

Too many features?
I'd love multiIE much more if with a single 'click' I could open the link in a new window instead of having to navigate the feature-rich menu ..........
every darn time.

Please feel free to email me suggestions for anything that I have missed!
You might find I already have it in the pipeline, or if it's something new that would be great for improving wireless web, then I'll do my best to get it in (Most of MultiIE features are there to make it easier for me to use Pocket IE wireless anyway!)
So, you want the default action of clicking on a link to always open a new window? Wouldn't that quickly get out of control with windows? I'd like to hear more. MultiIE already hooks most of the link functions, so it could be possible to add this as a configuration option for 2.1.
Cheers,
Peter

I think he means all offsite links.. So everytime you click on a link thats on a different domain you open a new window .. that would be quite handy

Left on joypad to go back...
I just downloaded MultiIE and found it to be excellent!!!
A couple of things I would like:
1. Option to use left on joypad as back (and right as forward). This would allow one thumb browsing...
2. Allow option to default to Full screen, with the top and bottom bars only active for a single command.
Other than that it looks to be just what the doctor ordered!

So Pete, how about snagging the tap and hold, if you are on a link, to bring up your menu. A tap and hold is essentially a right click and would seem an appropriate way to bring up the options.
