Default A Pocket PC Wedding

Those of you who were reading this site back in November & December will recall some discussion about me using a Pocket PC as part of my wedding. My decision was met with some disbelief, some encouragement, and of course the wonderfully inaccurate media reporting. Many of you asked for pictures, and I was going to publish one, but Hal from Pocket PC Magazine came up with a better idea: he put it in the magazine! Published on page 10 of the May 2002 issue, bottom right, is this photo. Yes, I really did it!

Click the above image for the full scan of the photo and the text that appeared with it.

For those that are wondering, I carried two iPAQs, each freshly hard reset (no 3rd party software) with the wedding vows loaded into Pocket Word. Each was fully charged, but I thought it would be a bad "product demo" if the main device didn't turn on. So, like NASA, I had a backup. And before someone says it, the Pocket PC was used only for the wedding, not the honeymoon. :-)

Not a bad idea! Now if only we could all get our hands on three iPAQs...

And late congrats to you Jason!

I've known about it for a while, but I was waiting until I could see it and do a scan. :-)

I _still_ say Pocket Kama Sutra could have been a highlighted app for the honeymoon...

And yes, I was the one who brought it up first before too!

Are the vows long in Canada then? Over here in the UK we just repeat what the vicar says (in stages),no cue cards or anything. It's only short though :

Guided by the minister, the groom will repeat the wedding vows: I [name] take thee [name] to be my wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part, according to Gods holy law, and this is my solemn vow.
With this ring I thee wed, with my body I thee honour and all my wordly goods with thee I share. In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.

In some ceremonies "With this ring I thee wed..." is substituted with, "I give you this ring as a sign of our marriage. With my body I honour you, all that I am I give to you, and all that I have I share with you, within the love of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit".
