Default Toshiba gets CNET editors choice

http://computers.cnet.com/editorschoice/0-1433811.html?tag=st.co.2709830-404-8592166.subnav.1550582

CNET has awarded the Toshiba Genio e570 their editors choice award. "Executives and mobile workers who receive Toshiba's Pocket PC e570 will be thrilled with it. It's small enough to easily slip into a pocket, and it has two expansion slots for adding memory or peripherals. This is the best-designed Pocket PC we've seen so far, so we hope Toshiba hurries up and makes it officially available to Joe Consumer instead of just corporate customers. "

Lets hope some of the rumored Toshiba devices (notwithstanding the increasingly possible fake/really old photos posted here a few days ago) will be available to Joe Consumer!

Default joe consumer CAN have the toshiba e570 now...

joe consumer CAN have the toshiba e570 now...

just call 1-888-874-8247 and give 'em a credit card. they'll ship it right out.

i got mine earlier this week. i have owned both an iPAQ 3635 and a 3765 and the e570 rocks the hizouse relative to the pre-38xx models. it may be a draw between the 38xx and the e570, but having the native CF slot is very, very nice.

PC World also put out an article talking about various PDA's. The e570 was included, but only recieve three of five stars (.5 more then the Palm m505) while the iPAQ and Casio E200 recieve four of five.

I've got both a 3870 and an e570, and I think they're both great.

I love my iPaq, with it's integrated Bluetooth (works a treat with my T68), and the micro keyboard, and my WLAN PCMCIA card, but it gets a little bulky with the WLAN card, or any other jacket.

The e570 is smaller, and is a treat with a CFII WLAN card, but there's no micro keyboard, and I need to swap either my SD memory card or the WLAN card to use Bluetooth.

I think the iPaq and the e570 hit different markets - the iPaq is for the business user who mostly uses email and calendar, and occasionally needs more, eg GPS or WLAN. The e570 is for the person who wants lots of expandability in a single form factor.

Ideally, I'd like the e570 form factor, with SD and CFII, more on board memory (min 128Mb - I want to sue SD for backups and transfers not main memory), XScale 400MHz or more processor, integrated Bluetooth AND WLAN, plus lots of accessories, including as a minimum micro keyboard and USB charger.

I know Toshiba are producing an XScale version of the e570 with either integrated Bluetooth or WLAN, but it will still only have 64Mb RAM, and the accessories still needto be addressed.
