New Toshiba Pocket PCs?
http://forums.pdabuzz.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33943&highlight=New+Toshiba+ARM+Models
Tim Rapson directed us to this PDABuzz comment by ZzMacro - according to this rumour, Toshiba will be releasing two new Pocket PC models in April. Can anyone substantiate this? That's the Toshiba program manager on the screen, and the devices look legit (click on the thumbnail image below for a high-res photo). If this is really coming out in April, wow...the E740 looks like a beautiful companion for my Fujitsu laptop!
Toshiba E740 : 64MB 3.5" TFT 16bit display Adds embedded wireless 802.11 or BT Two expansion slots: SD and CFII Intel XScale 400MHz vs. StrongArm 206MHZ Expansion pack with USB and video out Second add-on battery option
Toshiba E310 : 32MB Great Color Display 3.5" TFT, 16bit (64k) color display First Toshiba consumer channel entry Will have to compete against low-end Palm and Casio offerings Could take advantage of Palm's OS shift to support StrongArm

I think that falls into the "purely random speculation" department.

Maybe being that it is a low end Pocket PC and the new Palm OS device will likely be of similar specs. Really that hasn't been much direct competition between the Pocket PC platform and Palm because they have been on two different levels. When Palm says "LOOK AT OUR NEW STUFF"...Toshiba can say "but look over here as well cause we don't use the Palm OS and have more features then that Palm."

Yeah, I thought the same thing
Given the fact they are definitely running PPC 2000 combined with the fact they are just overall retro looking and ugly in my eyes, my theory is that these are pre-production photos from a year or two ago when Toshiba first announced they would be releasing a Pocket PC. Now someone has found them and is circulating them as the new XScale and consumer models.
This is not to say that the specs on the rumored models aren't true or accurate, Toshiba has already announced a 400MHz XScale model for Q2, I'm just willing to bet that they will not look anything like that photo.

I'd have to agree. That Start Bar is pre-Pocket PC 2000 SP1.
