Default Intava Gravity neutralizes cross platform pain

http://www.intava.com/gravity_pocketpc.asp

I had seen this a while back ago, but decided to wait to post until I heard from anyone with experiences with this product. Now, my friend Chris Forsberg just sent me an email telling me about Intava and some conversations he's had with them. I haven't used Intava Gravity myself, but from what I can see it seems to be quite a gem to any Pocket Internet Explorer developer.

Intava Gravity is a development tool for developing and testing Web applications that targets mobile devices. Intava Gravity for Pocket PC renders the markup language as Pocket Internet Explorer would do, from within the development environment. The tool also checks the code to make sure it's "Pocket Internet Explorer compatible". Intava Gravity also comes in WAP and Palm OS flavors.

Have you come across Intava Gravity for Pocket PC? What's your opinion? Got an opinion on Pocket Internet Explorer development, in general?

I'm using Microsoft .NET Mobile Controls to develop web sites for Pocket PC's, because they are automaticaly viewable on WAP-devices and it developes incredibly fast, so this application looks a bit redundant for me. But I think it would be interesting to test sites by browsing with this app. Let's give it a try

I agree that this tool seems a bit redundant beside the Mobile Controls, and VS.NET. It could be worth the $195 if the previewing and markup check are well implemented, though...

I had not ever seen this tool before. I would agree that it looks a bit redundant if you are using VS.NET. But for those without the knowledge to code in .NET this could be a very useful tool.

I have not used .NET for mobile pages, but I use just plain ASP and HTML to create the mobile pages for a university. It is a struggle to put everything on that you want, and have it look good on Palm, PocketPC and WAP. This tool though would let you see all three at the same time, which I think is great. However I don't think it would be very useful unless you buy the professional version.

Anyway, my two cents,
~Spencer

Thanks for bringing this tool to our attention Andy. Some of us might not have heard about it as an alternate to VS.NET Mobile Controls.
