Anyone ever heard of Syncsys? I haven't, but they have the first Pocket PC I've seen with built-in 802.11b and a massive 2000mAh battery. This looks like it might be vaporware, but it sure is enticing vaporware...

What tiny buttons on that display... :wink:
I'm wondering when we'll see a Pocket PC that's faster than 206mhz... all these new devices are great, but they don't give me much reason to trade in the one I've got. (Maybe that's not the point, but it seems like they'd be better off trying to offer a more powerful machine than all the other existing ones.)

Q2 of this year you'll see Xscale devices like the LOOX running at 300+ mhz...but the real fun will be the integrated wireless devices.

Real fun just in the sense of the integrated wireless, or real fun because they not only will have integrated wireless but faster processors as well?

It's all about the wireless communication, for me at least. The CPU increases are "cool", but not terribly exciting. If we can get always on wireless, with reasonable service plans from our cell providers, it will usher in a whole new era of computing. That will take a couple of generations though... :wink:

let's not overlook
According to the spec sheet it also has a built-in PCMCIA slot. How's that for expansion?! Integrated wireless AND built-in PCMCIA? If this is vaporware it is certainly creative vaporware.

I agree with that. The service plans are one of the major problems, especially when always on service makes its way around. With all the new modules and wireless options, you would think service providers would have some deals on their plans to get users hooked on wireless.

I just want to know how they are going to put all that stuff(especially the PC Card) into a .7inch thin device. The only other device I know of which has a PC Card slot, is the @migo, and that is about .9inches thick.

To me it doesn't look like it's got a PCMCIA Slot built in. It looks like it's got a expansion slot.
Expansion Slot 1
(Cradle Slot 22 pins)

(Expansion Card Slot 80 pins)

1 DC In Port
1 PCMCIA Slot
O and and no CF or SD Card slots built in. Does have a USB Host port.
