Default Apple Announces iLife '06

http://www.apple.com/ilife/

"Apple today announced iLife '06, the most significant upgrade to Apples award-winning suite of digital lifestyle applications ever. iLife '06 features iPhoto 6 with blazing performance, new printed books, calendars and cards, and Apples innovative new Photocasting for sharing photos over the Internet; iMovie HD 6 with new motion themes for adding spectacular production value to your movies; iDVD 6 for authoring custom DVDs for todays widescreen TVs; and GarageBand 3, now the complete solution for creating professional-quality Podcasts. iLife '06 also introduces iWeb, a new iLife application that makes it super-easy to create amazing websites with photos, blogs and Podcasts and publish them on .Mac for viewing by anyone on the Internet with just a single click. This is the most exciting iLife upgrade ever, said Steve Jobs, Apples CEO. Apple pioneered applications to serve our emerging digital lifestyle and then consolidated them into the iLife suite. With this major upgrade to iLife, were leaping even further ahead of anything available for the PC. "

A new app joins the iLife suite; iWeb. This software is a major addition that ties the iLife suite into Apple's online consumer services called .Mac, enabling users to create blogs, publish photos, calendars, share audio, and everything in between. iPhoto also gets a major tuneup with new photo editing capabilities and improved book publishing. New tools (which integrate with iWeb and .Mac) allow Mac users to publish and share photo libraries on password protected online galleries. Cool stuff.

But the biggest change comes in GarageBand which has now morphed into a full end-to-end Podcasting studio. With GarageBand you can record, edit, and publish your own podcasts. Apple has even included a number of royalty-free sound effects and jingles to create professional quality productions. Very clever.

iLife '06 is available through the Apple online store for $79. *Note of warning. For some reason the iLife website crashes my browser. Be forewarned*
