Logitech Harmony 880 Review
"No matter how many times I think Ive found the cure to my out-of-control remotes, I always end up disappointed. Much as Id like to get one clicker to handle everything, Ive never quite been able to whittle down my infrared fiddlesticks to a single magic wand. So it was with some degree of skepticism that I tackled the Harmony 880 Advanced Universal Remote from Logitech."
I'll say it again, Logitech's Harmony line is the best out there for the average home consumer. Easy to program (relatively speaking), powerful, versatile, and they have outstanding customer support. Unfortunately extra features like a color LCD touchscreen come at a price in terms of battery life. So it has to be charged, unlike a regular remote which can go months or years on a set of AAs. It also can't tell if the device it's operating is on or off, which isn't so much Logitech's fault as the entire home entertainment industry's. Overall though, the very best remote you can buy at the moment (without spending insane amounts of money at least).
