Default Ars Technica GarageBand Review

http://arstechnica.com/reviews/004/software/mac/garageband/garageband-1.html

Andy Deitrich over at Ars Technica has written a very detailed and interesting review of Apple's latest iLife app: GarageBand. If you're not a musician, but always wanted to test your skills, why not see how GarageBand can make that happen?

"While Apple holds only 3-5% of the market share for personal computers, there is one industry in which Macs remain ubiquitous: professional digital audio recording. Other platforms have made strides in the past decade, but Macs still hold the fort. It was with great interest then that followers of the industry watched as Apple snatched up Emagic makers of the Logic Audio line of professional audio production software in July of 2002. The typical reactions emerged: Emagic's PC users were angry at their forced migration to a different platform while the Mac faithful speculated wildly (as they are wont to do) at what the future held."

I have a review copy of iLife 04 that I'm going to finish as soon as I get a chance. Of course, I would LOVE to be able to test GarageBand but the software requires a DVD burner in order to install. And my G4 iMac is only equipped with a lowly CD burner. That means I have to break out my wallet and buy a DVD burner just so I can review a piece of software!

Ok, I'll stop right there before I go into one of my rants again. Now where did I put my medication?
