My New Zunes Almost Didn't Arrive
As I posted about earlier this week, as a Zune MVP I'm fortunate enough to be on the short list of people who are getting the second-generation Zunes in advance for review purposes. I was hoping to get the package on Monday, but it never came. Then on Tuesday I was sure it would get here. It didn't. Today I was starting to worry, and it seems I had good reason. When the package arrived today, as the courier was charging my credit card (they marked the value as $400 USD, which means I have to pay customs), I looked at the shipping address on the package. When I saw it, I burst out laughing:

That's a direct scan of the FedEx paperwork. Jasone Durine? Zhoheth Jobhts Cone? I told the courier guy that FedEx needed to hire smarter people, thinking that it was some sort of horrible typo...but then I looked at the hand-writing of the person who filled out the paperwork:

I can't completely blame FedEx: that's some truly horrible hand-writing. We're talking doctor-level prescription writing scrawl! If you didn't already know my name, and my address, you'd be forgiven for getting some of it wrong. I wonder, does FedEx perhaps use a text recognition program that completely butchered my information? Or was this entered in by a human being with incredibly poor error-parsing abilities?
Whatever the reason, my Zunes escaped the cruel fate of being stuck in a FedEx centre for weeks...and I'm happily reviewing them now. I can't say more at the moment, but let's just say I'm smiling.
