Microsoft Wraps Up the Zune Masters Program
"As you know, the Zune Masters program officially concluded at the end of June and we wanted to take this time to thank you for a fantastic job spreading the word about Zune and we hope you’ll continue to keep up-to-date on future Zune products and events via other Zune/Microsoft sites, like Zune.net or zuneinsider.com. Thanks for being a part of Zune Masters!
Sincerely, Zune Masters Staff"
And that, as they say, is that. My peers over at IWAPZ.com (I guess that's the new name for the Web site formerly known as I Want A Pink Zune) think the program got cancelled because of a few people that ruined it. I think it was an interesting idea for getting the word out about the Zune, but ultimately I think a program like this can only be as successful as the Zune itself is - and here we are, nearly a year into the launch of the Zune, still lacking much of the basic functionality that other PlaysForSure devices have. It seems to me that in some ways the Zune failed the Zune Masters Program, not the other way around.
