Default Task Arranger

One of the biggest omissions in Windows Phone 7 is the lack of a way to manage tasks, a consequence of the Microsoft's initial decision to focus on consumers rather than businesses. You can't even sync with Outlook tasks. Task Arranger won't solve that particular problem, but it will let you manage tasks on your WP7 device, through a rather pretty interface. The developers have a sense of humour too, if you watch the video. You can download a free trial to Task Arranger through the Windows Marketplace; it currently retails for $2.99.

That's not entirely true anymore. The calendar app in Windows Phone does now include a To-Do section. Interestingly, that ToDo section does sync with To-do List in Hotmail, or Windows Live if you prefer, AND Tasks in Exchange Server. That latter is if you are on a hosted Exchange like Office365 or attached to a real Exchange server like a company one. What isn't happening, and I hope just not yet, is the Outlook Connector isn't moving the Hotmail To-do's into the Outlook client on a desktop. That's a fail, but Tasks/ToDos are there and some syncing occurs.

BTW, if your desktop Outlook is a client to an Exchange server (not Outlook connector to Live) then To-Dos on the phone do indeed sync with Tasks on the Outlook client, or rather they both sync with the server. So 'Business' is covered. It's the kludge of a business focused Outlook client hooked to a web based PIM via Outlook Connector that sucks.

Sorry about hijacking the review and announcement.
