Default How Much RAM is Enough For You?

<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.zdnet.com/blog/hardware/do-i-really-need-8gb-of-ram/16742' target='_blank'>http://www.zdnet.com/blog/hardware/...gb-of-ram/16742</a><br /><br /></div><p><em>"Here's a question that I've been asked a lot lately in one form or another:&nbsp;Do I really need 8GB of RAM?"</em></p><p><img height="239" src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/at/auto/1322854295.usr105634.jpg" style="border: 1px solid #d2d2bb;" width="600" /></p><p>I have 4GB of RAM and it seems to be enough for my 11-inch MacBook Air, but I don't do a lot of graphics intensive stuff on it. What are your thoughts on this issue, what is the perfect amount of RAM or should you just get as much as you can afford regardless of need?</p>

I'm in the "Max it out" crowd ... 4GB on my MacBook Air, and 8GB on my MacBook Pro. My late and lamented 27-inch iMac had 8GB, although OWC claimed that 16GB would work. That being said, this works for me as long as RAM stays affordable. ( I remember back in, oh, 1977, when I worked at The Federal Reserve Bank in SF and 1/2 megabyte of memory for a mainframe system was about $100K. )
