Default New Micro Four-Thirds Give You A Big Sensor In A Small Package

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/07/t...&ref=technology

"Two of the smallest cameras yet have just arrived: the Panasonic Lumix GF2 ($600 with 3X zoom lens) and Olympus E-PL2 ($520 with 3X lens). They're both 12-megapixel Micro Four-Thirds cameras, a format dreamed up by Panasonic and Olympus about three years ago."

Many of us want the benefits of a DSLR but hate the idea of having to lug around a full size camera bag required for such beasts.  So, we end up shooting pictures with our camera phones or tradition Point-and-Shoots.

A good compromise is the Micro Four-Thirds category.  The sensors are not as big as those found in traditional DSLRs, but are a definite improvement from Point-and-Shoots.  The lens are interchangeable and in the Panasonic Lumix GF2 and Olympus E-PL2's case, the chassis are fairly small making it more likely you'll have it with you when the occasion arises.

What is in your photo gear bag?  Do you use a DSLR, Point-and-Shoot, Micro Four-Thirds or camera phone?  Click through for a review of either of these two cameras.
