Default Digital Camera Sales up in Asia: Digital Cameras Not Quite Doomed - Yet.

http://www.adoimagazine.com/newhome...atid=1&Itemid=5

"Following the lackluster performance of the digital camera industry in 2009 where overall flat growth was registered over the previous year across nine markets in Asia, the industry managed an impressive comeback in the next 12 months to achieve 20 and 17 percent growth respectively in value and units."

Not too long ago I posted a reaction to decreasing digital camera sales in the US, and it appears that the trend is the reverse in Asia, for 2010 at least. I wonder what is the difference? Better technology proliferation? Increasing prosperity leading to acquisition of new toys? Or a better appreciation of quality? There is certainly no shortage of smartphones being sold in the region. I know that iPhones are a hot property, and scalpers easily make profits selling to the Asian region, driving up prices above retail values. So what then? Anyone has any insights to share?
