Yahoo Mail's IMAP Bug Is Finally Fixed
"To quickly summarize, whenever a smartphone checked for new Yahoo mail, the server would transmit more information than needed. While not a huge problem on desktops connected to broadband, it was huge in the mobile space - a space in which carriers snipe bandwidth hogs and users oblivious to their data usage and monthly allowances." It looks like Yahoo has finally made some changes in the way its servers communicate with handsets when polled for mail. Instead of sending back the entire message header as before, thereby causing users to use more data than necessary, the servers now only send back the requested information when polled. This is good news for Yahoo Mail users especially since most carriers are doing their best to phase out unlimited data for one to two GB plans.
