The unknown is now not so unknown as some updates are coming through the Mac App Store already. It is probably not a big shock to find out that it is similar to how the iOS App Store updates your mobile device. Go into the App Store and you will see a notification icon with the number of apps that need updating. Click on it and you go into a screen very similar to what you see with your iOS updates.
