Default Developing for WP7 Not A Waste

http://www.businessinsider.com/why-...phone-7-2010-10

"The conventional wisdom among developers is to target the largest available platform. According to that wisdom, developing apps for Windows Phone 7 is at best a "wait and see" prospect, and at worst a total waste of time. But in this particular case, the conventional wisdom might be wrong."

The haters may even have to start admitting that WP7 (and thus developing for it) probably won't be a flop. Matt Rosoff isn't a hater, however his piece may make some haters recoil in disgust. Let's hope that more developers take notice!

I wouldn't consider myself a hater, and I'm not a developer. Admittedly I've been fairly negative about most WP7 announcements, though. I was really hoping for more out of Microsoft, since it's been 5+ years since they updated the OS in any meaningful way.

Anyway, judging by the responses (or lack thereof) on WPT to all the WP7 related announcements, MS should be VERY concerned. If I was a developer, I'd be concerned that a fan site such as this does not seem to be generating any interest in these announcements/phones/OS.

Sites like this are mainly visited by powerusers who have all but a few declared WP7 unsuitable for their needs so its not surprising that there is not a lot of activity here. Seems to be plenty of discussion on other sites and applications are going to be showcased in various ways so there is nothing for developers to be concerned about.

Calling "haters" out based on speculation.

What some people consider a waste, I consider an opportunity.

I'm not a professional developer (far from it), but I have a few skills here and there. And some halfway decent ideas. I don't have a device yet, but I do hope to get something in the near future. Until then, I'll keep plugging away with the emulator and see what I can come up with.
