Default RAM Provides You With A Laptop Revival

http://lifehacker.com/5649112/diy-r...p-upgrading-ram

"There are many, many cases where a computer that's "moving slow" or running "so crash-y" can work perfectly fine again with a boost in its available RAM, or memory. Because, honestly, the processor requirements for your average non-gaming app don't change that much from year to year, but the number of apps folks tend to have open scales up as new stuff comes out."

While computers are cheap, budgets are tight these days, and upgrading your faithful companion makes sense.  Unless you find yourself clamoring for more hard drive space for your stuff, a RAM upgrade makes sense, especially since many older laptops tended to have the bare minimum amount of RAM to just run the operating system.  Fortunately, upgrading RAM on many laptops is not that difficult, though you might find yourself replacing, instead of just adding memory.  Think of it as an evening project, instead of something you would need set aside a weekend.
