Apple Dominates Tech news
"A yearlong look at technology news coverage by the Pew Research Center's Project for Excellence in Journalism found that 15.1 percent of tech articles were primarily about Apple; 11.4 percent were about Google; and a meager 3 percent were about Microsoft." When I first heard the numbers from this report, I wasn't surprised at all. I read a lot of tech journalism, and I see Apple coverage everywhere. It becomes remarkable, though, when you realize how dominate Microsoft is in the computer space. Despite Microsoft's significant lead in install base, Apple still gets much more reporting. Much of that has to do with Apple's marketing machine and with their dominance in the MP3 player market. Of course, news in the tech world, just like everywhere else, moves in cycles. Now is Apple's time. Eventually, another company will become the darling of the media. As an Apple fan, I say let's enjoy it while we can.
