Kno Dual-Screen Tablet Receives Additional Funding
"If you need a tablet with presence you need the Kno. Its dual capacitive 14-inch IPS displays, each clocking in at 1,440 x 990, make this thing closer to a Surface than a Courier and surely present some unique challenges when it comes to pricing. Kno, the company, plans to sell it by the end of the year for an MSRP of under $1,000, and a new $46 million injection in financing should go a long way toward making that happen." Picture two thin 14-inch laptop screens, joined together, and lose the keyboard(s), and you get an idea of the size of the initial Kno prototypes. Beautiful in concept, the demos are really impressive, but the bottom line: this tablet, targeted at college students, is huge. Hopefully Kno will be able to forge partnerships with textbook publishers to enable this to be a a viable and cost-effective platform for students. While the Know is large, it is still dwarfed by (and light, compared to) a typical student's backpack, loaded-down with $300 textbooks. Students - would a tablet computer this large interest you? What do you currently lug around?
