LG Going Dual-Core Tegra 2 in Q4 2010
SEOUL, Sept. 7, 2010 - LG Electronics (LG) announced today that it will introduce a series of fast, powerful smartphones starting in the fourth quarter of 2010 utilizing the second generation NVIDIA® TegraTM mobile processor, Tegra 2. Tegra 2 includes the world's first dual-core CPU, which powers through complex tasks to achieve significant leaps in performance. Accroding to the LG pres release, the new Tegra 2 chip sports two 1GHz processors and an ultra low-power GeForce GPU capable of supporting 1080p HD graphics. LG has popped up on a few mobile operator roadmaps for later in the year, so it will be interesting to see if one of these new devices is the lucky owner of the new chipset. Still to be determined, however, is battery life. I personally will be curious to see how low-power is "low-power".
