How to manually install Froyo on your Droid Incredible

"Froyo has already been rolling out to the Droid Incredible for a few days now, but if you haven't gotten your tap on the shoulder yet and you would like to go ahead and speed up the process then just follow the instructions below."

Like most Incredible users, I was beginning to lose my patience with Verizon.  Over the last week, Verizon support has been patiently responding to users via Twitter, indicating they had no ETA.  I was a little worried about trying this on my device, since you can't just swap your sim card to a new device should something go wrong.  All concerns aside, I finally tried this yesterday.  These steps are clear and easy to follow, and the update went quite smoothly.
