Extended Systems' Server-based Sync Software to Support RIM Devices
BOISE, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 22, 2002--Extended Systems (Nasdaq:XTND - news), a leading provider of mobile data management and wireless connectivity solutions, announced today that it will provide server-based synchronization capabilities for RIM devices.

This June, Extended Systems' XTNDConnect Server will provide a server-based replacement for RIM desktop synchronization software, reducing enterprise IT support costs for desktop software and offering the benefits of centralized device management for RIM, Palm OS, PocketPC, SyncML and Symbian devices. This initial release will provide RIM users with full cradle synchronization of Lotus Notes, contacts, and tasks, as well as reconciliation of email and calendar. A follow-on release late this summer will add wireless synchronization capabilities utilizing Extended Systems' AutoDelivery feature.

Don Baumgartner, Extended Systems' vice president of worldwide marketing, said Extended Systems is the first company in the mobile information management arena to offer a server-based synchronization solution for RIM devices. He said RIM support was added in response to customer demand from existing and potential corporate accounts. "By adding RIM support, we are providing a single, cross-platform, server-based sync solution for a broad range of devices. That's what enterprise IT needs and that is what Extended Systems continues to deliver."
