Cingular + SMT5600 + Amazon + Family
Whew. I'm wondering if this will work. I'm trying to set up a family plan for a friend and her mother, when their Verizon contract runs out in December 17th. My friend REALLY wants the Audiovox SMT5600, which isn't available through Cingular yet, but I don't think they're going to want to spend the money on it. So here was my idea.
1) Buy a cell phone though Amazon who's total cost would be around $-125 with Cingular service.
2) Add a family line, and use the $-125 against the Audiovox.
So here's my questions:
1) Is it difficult to buy a phone off Amazon, and then have them port a Verizon number over when you get it?
2) When is Cingular supposed to offer the SMT5600? What do you thing the suggested price for adding it as a family line will be?
