It was unlikely that I was going to buy the Xoom for this very reason. That and I feel like Motorola had a pretty shabby product release this time around. Mail-in upgrades? Really?
I've been waiting for more details on the "Nexus" tablet since HoneyComb was announced. If I buy an android tablet it will be this one. I love the latest and greatest, but the my Nexus One made me realize that keeping on the cutting edge of hardware iterations was just to expensive for me. The software and platforms are my answer. That's why my next phone, if an android phone, will be a Nexus phone. The same is for tablets.
If I buy an android tablet, and its likely I will, it will be a Nexus tablet. Why spend $600 on a tablet to run the risk of having it left behind in a year just to get some OEM "value adds".
This is one major reason why I'm cooling off on Windows Phone. I need to know that I can continue to evolve with a platform even if my hardware stays the same.
I hope the Nexus tablet is in the 8 to 9inch size. That would be perfect for me. I may even pick up a 3G/4G version. Hopefully it will be with T-Mobile and I can get grandfathered into a cheap data plan.
