Default What Nikon Product is Hiding in the Funky Box?

http://nikonrumors.com/2010/03/14/n...ikonRumors.com)

The original post over on Nikon Rumors was focused on what kind of lens is on this camera body, but I think the more interesting question is what kind of camera body is under that box? If it was just about protecting the identity of a lens, some black tape would largely do the trick. There must be a new Nikon camera body under there...any guesses as to what it is? I've heard D700x and D800 bandied about lately - but where's my highly-anticipated D400 at?

Default I agree

I agree that there is a new body in that box. Hopefully something we can use before year end. Nikon just doesn't move fast. I am waiting and hoping that the D400 will be out by year end. The calculation is 15 months between the "s" upgrade and the next generation (D400) putting it around November. Makes for a nice Xmas present. Can't wait... I am still using my D200 some 4+ years later.

That's a DX lens. They might of course test the ability of a new FX camera with a DX lens, but it also might be a new DX camera. Helpful, huh?

Could just be a D3/D2... or a camera that has no flash. Either way, the diopter knob is in the correct location for a D3/D2.

I'm glad they don't move too fast - no one wants to drop $2000 on a camera body and see it be eclipsed by a new model in 8 months. I was a bit surprised the D300s came out...it seemed "fast"...but yeah, bring on the D400!

Why do you think they'd hide the camera body though?

No idea. Could be a cover, or could be part of a contraption of sorts. I notice another lens peeking out as well. Could be a stereoscopic setup. Then again, the other lens doesn't seem to be aligned correctly, nor is it identical...
