Hi Jason,
Actually, you might remember me, I'm the guy that e-mailed you last summer, asking about how my girlfriend, on holiday in San Francisco, could get hold of a Zune. Obviously, it all worked out great!
Really enjoying the Zune and, since Mediamonkey can't sync it anymore, starting to enjoy the software also.
Some info about the customizer:

2 screenshots from my Zune software:

I hope you like the mods, they're not made by me obviously, you'll read everything about it in the forum above.
greetings from Europe!
JH

I do remember you - I'm glad to hear you got your Zune and it all worked out for you.

I, too, have been impressed by how fast the Zune software picks up new music that is added to the monitored folders. Looks like Microsoft is using their own mechanism for notification of file changes, same as I do in my FileBack PC backup software.
What I'd like to see is that same mechanism be used for synchronizing with the Zune player. I couldn't tell you how many times music or podcasts have been automatically added to my collection on the computer, but then not automatically synchronize with the Zune itself. It's especially frustrating for podcasts, because they are updated daily and tend to be large. So I have to manually start a sync and wait for it to finish (which might take a minute or two) before I can grab the device and go. Seems to me like it would be logical for those things to automatically be synchronized as soon as the Zune software knows that the new/updated content is there.
Just my two cents.

Something is definitely screwed up, because it's definitely supposed to automatically sync your podcasts to your Zune - that's how it works for me. Try deleting the podcast relationship from the Zune, disconnect, reboot the Zune, reconnect, then drag and drop the podcast subscription onto your Zune again. Let me know if that fixes it...

tidbits from the peanut gallery
in regards to the earlier posts that attack jason...
--jason freely admits to being biased in regards to many areas of the zune (and i believe does a good job trying to keep it affecting his reviews).
--you missed the point of the thread--update speed
shame on you.
although the zune software does not have access to my master collection (i maintain a drive specifically for the zune for several reasons) you are correct; the update speed of the software itself (especially across busy network drives) is really good. at 22K files it was no photo finish *several minutes between second for media monkey, closely followed by i-tunes....wmp might as well have been on a 56K modem for network access.
that's really sweet, unfortunately that is only available with perfect tags. i would easily trade that speed for readablility of incomplete tags. since the software advance reads the tags it creates issues for those of us with collections in transition (and countless others who don't realize it).....since none of the other software has issues reading the files why does zune's?

never once had an issue with any device using any software until now.
i've also noticed that is only good for the update speed, once you get your software completely hooked up to your a/v collection, watch how long it takes to change pages!
