Just as an FYI, that is exactly what Internet Connection Sharing does. It sets up what is typically a desktop PC as a router to allow other PCs networked to it to access it's internet connection. The capability has been around since Win98, though it has improved significantly. For you young folks, there was a time when you didn't get on the net anyway but via a dialup modem, and a router at home was out of the question.
