Default Digital Home Thoughts Upgrades News Posting Technology For The New Decade

Digital Home Thoughts has prepared for the new decade with a new automated news posting technology that will allow Jason to relax, lie in bed, watch TV, spend time with his son, and play with his gadgets. This new technology is... me. Hello!

It seems I have volunteered for the job of contributing editor doing all the work Jason normally does, and doing it in my spare time too. Most of you won't know me, I've been a lurker on this site since the days before it was launched, back when it was just Pocket PC Thoughts. I first visited Pocket PC Thoughts when I got an iPAQ 3630 many years ago when I was looking for information on new applications and uses for this great little device I'd just bought, and I've followed it since as my devices changed and as Jason expanded his empire to include the other thoughts sites.

I've had a fascination of gadgets for a long time, probably since my brother got his first computer the Sinclair ZX-81 and we spent hours and hours playing Chucky Egg, Manic Miner and Jetpack. Over the years my interest was kept alive with upgrades to a Commodore 64 and Amiga, and finally to a PC. Once I bought my own home the number of gadgets just seemed to increase almost magically as more and more appeared, yet strangely, there never seems to be enough of them. So what do I have currently? Well in the office is my main gaming rig hooked up to a 24" Dell monitor, my Windows Home Server and the obligatory wireless router. Downstairs under the Sony LCD TV is the Windows Media Center PC, Sony sound system, the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii. Elsewhere in the house is my main laptop: Dell XPS M1330, a netbook (MSI Wind), a UMPC (Viliv x70) and of course my mobile, an HTC Touch HD.

You might think I am too busy playing with all these gadgets to leave the house, and you'd almost be right, except I love the outdoors. Every winter I look forwards to the snowboarding season, hiking in the summer, and this year I've taken up mountain biking as well. This of course means I get to play with a completely different set of gadgets such as GPS devices and an Archos 605 with Headcam for recording those crashes and falls, as well as my camera.

So why did I volunteer? To be honest, I thought it would be fun to contribute to a site I have followed for a long time about things I enjoy and have fun with. I hope to be able to bring you news and articles about all things related to the digital home, as well as those that perhaps are not used in the home, but are used as part of your life such as GPS units or Head cams.

I hope you will enjoy reading my thoughts going forward, and I can make as big a contribution as others have before me.
