Getting the Zune Software To See DivX Files
"By default the Zune software will not accept or transcode DiVX, XViD, and MPEG files with .AVI extensions. Zune Scene forum members have developed a couple ways to circumvent the problem, the simplest is a registry hack that will allow the videos to be added to the Zune software:" A clever poster over at Zune Scene has devised a registry hack that will allow your Zune software to "see" and convert DivX files, as well as a few other formats. This hack does not add DivX support to the Zune software or the Zune player itself. This hack simply allows the Software to add these files to your library. The next time your Zune is synced, these files will be automatically converted to the Zune's native WMV format synced over to your Zune. You cannot however, play the original files from within the Zune software. Some posters have noted that the quality of these converted files can vary, so be warned. Check out the above link for all the details on this registry hack.
