Canadian Mobile Phone Ownership on the Rise
"An Ericsson Canada survey suggests 63 per cent of Canadians between the ages of 15 and 69 own a mobile phone - up seven percentage points from 2003. The survey also suggests mobile phone subscribers spend an average of 49 minutes a day talking on the phone, compared with the global average of 27 minutes. ..Vishnu Singh, senior marketing manager at Ericsson Canada, said Canadians tend to talk a lot more than people from other countries on their mobile phones, and the key driving force behind the acceptance of new wireless services is a group identified as the "explorative youth" market - tech-savvy, entertainment-driven people between the ages of 15 and 24." The study also suggests 49 per cent of Canadian youth use text messaging on a weekly basis."
The 15-24 age group is also the the group with the most disposable income, if I recall correctly. Did we really need a survey to tell us that this age range would be the key driving force behind the acceptance of new wireless services.? :roll:
