Default Digital Picture Frames: I'm Looking for Options

Hi everyone! I'm looking for opinions on digital picture frames - it seems like it's hard to find frames with decent sync technology built in, especially since FrameChannel went belly-up. I'm looking for a photo frame, probably in the 10 inch range, that I can push pictures to. Maybe that's via an RSS feed, maybe that's via email, or a Web service. The point is I need the ability to put pictures on the frame remotely without any local interaction. Yes, you guessed it, this is for both set of grandparents and I want to be able to add photos to the frame remotely so they'll just show up.

I've spent a few minutes researching potential photo frames, but what I've found has shocked me: it's a virtual wasteland of cancelled products and failed companies. Many of the picture frames I was familiar with a few years ago no longer exist. I'm looking for suggestions - though in searching for an image for this post, I came across the Kodak Pulse and it looks like it might do the trick. It can't pull down photos from RSS feeds, but I can email photos to a special email address and they'll appear on the frame - so that's the next best thing.

Any others I should be looking at?

So how about this? chumby › learn more about chumby8 along with one of these chumby › photos

The apps are free.

PS I've had a very bad experience with Kodak support. I will not buy from them again.

I've seen the Chumby stuff before - looks cool - but I'm paying for a lot of features I don't need with that. $199 for an 8" screen...the Kodak Pulse frames are $170 for a 10" frame. The Chumby's do way more, but I don't need more...

Thanks for the suggestion though, I appreciate it!

I looked at the Kodak myself, but in my case Grandma doesn't have wireless, or internet for that matter. Got it for here many years ago, and found the PC it was hooked to hadn't been turned on in 6 mos.

So, a Wifi based solution isn't going to cut it for me. Chumby is out too.

Shame that T-Mobile's thing died, though some quibbled at the cost. Still it was absolutely self contained, having a phone number you sent pics to.

I sort of wonder about something like the Kindle Fire. It doesn't have a phone number but I believe there will be a 3G version. Maybe some enterprising Android programmer could set up a 'frame' program that pulls picks off a facebook or flicker album.

How about frames that link to to services like Flickr or Google Photos? You could link the frames to a specific photo sharing service account that you maintain.

Are there any of those around?
