The SD4000 IS tops the current lineup, offering a 3.8x wide-angle zoom and (despite its underlying point-and-shoot disposition) aperture and shutter priority modes. In addition the SD4000 IS is the first of its family to be based around a back-lit CMOS sensor that enables several high speed modes and promises improved low-light performance."

DPReview.com likes the camera very much indeed, and just today I handled the black version for a bit. The matte finish is extremely appealing, and the design up close is striking with a combination of curves and angles. A decent sensor that gives respectable results at higher sensitivity levels and high-speed shooting means it has the brains to back the looks up. After some lacklustre compact cameras Canon's finally putting some pizzaz in the last couple of batches of cameras!
