You will need to have 10.6.4 though to get it working properly, and if you are curious to see if it will work on your Macbook, Edible Apple has a list of all the <a href="http://www.edibleapple.com/apple-brings-inertial-scrolling-three-finger-drag-gesture-to-line-of-macbooks/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed:+EdibleApple+(Edible+Apple)" target="_blank">compatible versions</a>. &nbsp; You can find more info at Apple, and download the update as well [<a href="http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1066" target="_blank">link</a>].</p><p>And to answer a question some of you may have since it is Bluetooth, the folks at <a href="http://www.gearlog.com/2010/07/magic_trackpad_doesnt_work_wit.php?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed:+ziffdavis/gearlog-ziffdavis+(Gearlog)" target="_blank">Gearlog</a> tried to get the Trackpad to work with an iPhone and iPad. And the result is no, it doesn't work with either and is an OS X only product.&nbsp; One additional note, the buttons for the Trackpad are on the feet not on the surface, which is an interesting design feature, but it makes sense.&nbsp;</p>

I have no idea why anyone thought that it might work with iPad or iPhone: it's a pointing device- basically a mouse substitute. Since neither iPad nor iPhone supports BT mice (including Apple's Magic Mouse), why would it support this? I don't even know how it would work, since there's no support in iOS for a cursor (i.e. how would you correlate where you touch on the TouchPad to where that touch should be registered on the screen?).

I'm sure jailbreakers can and will hack something up just for the heck of it, but why people thought this might be supported out of the box is beyond me.

that one surprised me too, not sure why people had question about it but it was out there :-)
